Apparently, being famous doesn’t protect you from being the victim of theft. R&B artist Usher recently reported that over $1 million dollars worth of items were stolen from his vehicle while he was doing some shopping in Atlanta, GA. The robbery took place on December 14th.
Usher was doing some shopping with a friend, when they decided to pull into an AT&T store to do some business. After parking his GMC Yukon in the parking lot in front of the store, Usher and his friend went inside. While they were inside, apparently another vehicle pulled up beside Usher’s SUV, which is suspected to be when the theft took place. Missing from Usher’s vehicle were many expensive items, totaling:
- $1,000,000 in Jewelry
- $50,000 in Clothing and Furs
- $16,700 in Electronics
Total theft: $1,066,700
Some sources also stated that $20,000 in cash was stolen from the vehicle as well.
Among the stolen items that Usher is most concerned about is a personal computer, which he says contains several unreleased audio tracks. Apparently, Usher is extremely worried that these voice tracks will make their way into the public.
Some people have speculated that this is one of the reasons that Usher is currently dealing with a leak of some songs on the upcoming album Raymond vs. Raymond. Songs from this unreleased album reportedly begun appearing on file-sharing websites sometime in the month of December. However, this is not confirmed by any official sources.
The theft was apparently witnessed by a female employee of the AT&T store, who said that she saw a burgundy Chevy Impala with tinted windows pull up beside Usher’s vehicle while he was shopping inside the store. A man in his early twenties exited the vehicle, and then proceeded to pop open the door to the GMC Yukon. Though the witness was contacted by the local news, she was afraid of retaliation by the thief, and declined to comment on the robbery. However, it has been confirmed that this witness has been in contact with the local police about the investigation.
Since the parking lot where Usher’s vehicle was parked was stated as being not covered by video surveillance, local police are currently relying only the witness account for investigation into this case.
Fox News covered the story, which will most likely help to increase exposure about this event. You can watch the full news story by Fox News here:
